Summer Storytelling @ the Wren's Nest!

Featuring the Just Write Teacher!

This summer, The Wren’s Nest will bring back its Scribes Summer Camp for middle-school age students on July 6 to 10 from 9am-4pm EDT. Students are invited to embark on a literary adventure through workshops led by writer and award-winning educator Celeste McNeil Clark. Throughout the week, writers will engage with different styles of creative writing in order to enhance their critical thinking and imagination, sharpen their language with precision and power, and gain confidence in knowing, respecting, and presenting who they are.

From word play and imaginative exercises to character building and world creation, writers will dive into the power of storytelling with purpose and joy. Camp will conclude with a Scribes Showcase, a platform for our young storytellers to celebrate their creative talents with their family and friends.

THE COLLEGE ESSAY: write a personal statement that stands out

1. Selecting the story

It starts with a story worth telling. It's okay if you haven't saved the world, won a gold medal, or discovered the ninth planet (again). We'll find the story that's already in you.

2. Crafting authentic writing

There is no other YOU, so in your essay, the perfect person to be is yourself. Write so that your personality genuinely shines through. Hey, you're a cool kid. We'll make sure the admissions committee sees it too.

3. Feedback, Feedback, Feedback

Even the best writers in the world don't nail it in one sitting. Writing is a process made better by feedback and revision cycles. We'll get better every draft.
